INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN SYDNEY by ARJUN DARU
Spring 2017 - Sydney, Australia
Faculty Led Trip
The Australia JGE Faculty led trip was focused around the idea of Innovation in Entrepreneurship; How Innovation in an industry leads to advancement and growth as a company. We visited and talked with a number of different companies who were making big splashes in their respective sectors.
We visited the BlueScope Steelworks in Port Kembla, the country's largest steel production plant, to learn about how the company addresses issues such as competition and the (then) new steel tariffs from America, one of their largest consumers. As chance has it, the Prime Minister was also visiting the plant at the time, and we got a pretty cool photo opportunity with him.
Additionally, we learned about common workplaces/Think Tanks, the impact that 5G will have, the amazing incorporation of the blockchain into more and more industries, and more.
When we weren't working, Sydney is a beautiful place to explore, and we made the most of it. We spent hours and hours at Bondai Beach (I think one of the Jonas Bros. was there at the same time too) and dined under the shadow of the Sydney Opera House.
